How To Forgive: The Process of Forgiveness Part One
Forgiveness Defined
Forgiveness is a specific type of exchange of energy between people.
When you feel tension with another person or situation, you hold that tension within your third chakra. This is your power center, located just below the bottom of your breastbone and above your navel.
Accumulated tension in this area from another person or situation becomes a grudge. Held tension is a form of energy that you store in your body in your third chakra.
The act of forgiveness is the process of allowing that stored energy to dissipate.
Why Forgiving Someone Intellectually Doesn’t Work
Choosing to ”forgive” someone on solely an intellectual basis does not typically result in a change in the way you exchange energy with them.
You must take conscious action to allow the stored energy of a grudge to dissipate and therefore complete an energetic forgiveness.
Two Steps To Forgiveness
There are two primary steps to forgiveness: acknowledging the stored energy of the fridge, and using that energy to expand your energy field.
Below both steps are explained in detail, along with an imagination process to help you perform the actual energetic act of forgiveness.
Step 1: Acknowledge Stored Grudge Energy
To allow stored grudge energy to dissipate, first you must acknowledge that it is there.
You don’t need to label any emotions that you’ve associated with your grudge, though doing so may help you acknowledge the grudge’s existence.
Emotions You May Feel When You Need to Forgive
Common feelings associated with grudges and held tension are:
- anger
- annoyance
- resentment
- rage
- displeasure
- contempt
- betrayal
- dislike
- frustration
- ill will
- spite
Just notice and acknowledge any emotions you feel. Don’t worry too much about them.
Acknowledge Stored Tension
To release the stored tension, you must do two things:
- access your inner knowledge that tension exists between you and this other person
- remember that this tension it exists in the form of stored energy held in your body.
This stored energy actually belongs to the other person, but it is within YOU now and has become a part of you.
Unlock Stagnant Energy
Acknowledging that the stored energy exists and is a part of you is the first step toward allowing it to dissipate.
When you acknowledge it, your internal energy flow changes. Consciousness and attention always affect internal energy flows.
In this case, when you become aware that there is stored energy inside you that belongs to another person, you unlock stagnant energy from where you had stored it, thus increasing your energy.
Unlocked Energy Moves to Weak Points
Because you now have access to energy that had previously been locked, you’ll feel the effects of the stored grudge energy all through your chakra system.
The stored energy naturally gravitates to places where you have energy weakness or other energy issues.
This occurs because those areas also have energy blocks, so the addition of stored grudge energy builds up in those other places like a lake before a dam.
It May Feel Uncomfortable At First
This process stimulates additional emotion in you.
Energy accumulates in areas within you that are filled with stored memories and emotions of painful moments.
This additional energy awakens old memories and emotions.
Resisting Discomfort Causes More Discomfort
The first part of the energy-dissipation process is to acknowledge that the stored energy exists within you.
Your attention on the energy automatically causes it to move to other places in your body where you already are defenseless, weak, or feel pain.
If you resist the flow of energy into these areas, you will likely feel more pain. Increased pain in an area of your body is a sign that your body asks you for attention (and forgiveness) in that area.
Remember that forgiveness is simply the release of stored energy held from a grudge with another person or situation.
Where the Process Can Go Awry
It is natural to resist increased pain, so you may unconsciously create additional layers of defense around it so as to not feel it.
This sends the energy back to the third chakra where it began. Then it is common to direct blame away from yourself.
How Forgiveness Became a Blame Game For Some People
Exploring your forgiveness can become a repeating pattern of pain and blame.
Blame is not always overt!
Often, people who helpfully attempt to urge forgiveness on others are intuitively aware of its benefit but subtly and unconsciously blame people that they themselves have not yet forgiven.
[This is an example of a helpful concept that can be unhelpful in practice.]
Every single act of forgiveness, truly allowing the natural flow of energy between people, is immediately helpful to others who are in their own process of forgiveness.
